Nexigen’s ‘Start-up Smart Home HQ’ to introduce house-automating technology to residents, builders

Smart Home HQ — a new startup company from the innovative minds at Nexigen Innovation Labs — has been created to introduce house-automating technology to residents and builders of existing and newly constructed homes throughout the tri-state region.

“This technology has existed for a couple of years now,” said Russ Middleton, co-founder of Smart Home HQ. “However, locally nobody has offered a personalized plan that meets the needs of today’s consumers – and that’s where we come in.”

Smart Home HQ has been developed to offer customers with such features as round-the-clock security surveillance; whole-home audio; door locks that can be controlled from anywhere; video-enabled doorbells that allow videoconferencing to your phone or computer; connected light switches and thermostats; and wall tablets that are used to control the entire system. These features also can be controlled from anywhere in the world via a mobile phone, laptop, or tablet.

“If I am at work and someone rings my doorbell, I immediately get a notification on my phone about this visitor,” Middleton said. “I can then look through a camera on my doorstep, see that it’s a delivery person, and tell him or her that I will open my garage door so they can place my package in there, instead of on my doorstep.”

“The ability to be able to do this was personally important to me,” Middleton continued. “Therefore, I worked with the Nexigen team to make this a reality, and now we want to bring this important service to the general public.”

Chris Compton — another co-founder of Smart Home HQ and IT engineer who has created entire networks and cyber-security operations for several multi-million dollar businesses and government agencies — said this idea for this service started from a podcast he produces in his basement, which now has garnered more than 20,000 followers nationwide.

Compton’s program covers topics about the multitude of devices that can interact through WIFI connectivity, more commonly known as the Internet of Things or IOT. Compton takes pride in engineering simple automated solutions that are easy for customers to use and to program.

Smart Home HQ has been working in close cooperation with companies provided automated products for the home, such as Sonos, Nest, Phillips Hue, Ecco, Blue Iris, General Electric, Samsung, and Schlage.

Because of the many resources Smart Home HQ has created in such a short time and support it provides, the company has become a staple for many contractors, Realtors, homebuilders, and residents alike.

“With almost every new day comes a new way to connect our world together,” Middleton said. “Now nearly half of the United States is adapting to this specific technology market, so the question you now have to ask yourself is, ‘Are you ready for a smart home, one that can save you money and provide yourself with peace of mind?’”
