News Briefs: Rudler named top accounting firm, Hermes on bees, successful National Night Out


Rudler, PSC has been named one of the 2018 Accounting Today’s Best Accounting Firms to Work For. Rudler is the only accounting firm in Kentucky and one of only two in Greater Cincinnati to receive the accolade. The firm made the list in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017.

The list is made up of 100 firms.

Mayor Hermes has the buzz on beekeeping

Erlanger Mayor and beekeeper Tyson Hermes will share the buzz on beekeeping — from hive components and the caste system to the inner working of the bee colony at Behringer-Crawford’s Brown Bag luncheon on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m.

The lunch will take place in the BCM Education Center. Bring your own lunch. Drinks and desserts provided.

Cost is $3 for BCM members and $10 for future members. Parking is free.

Newport’s National Night Out a big success

Newport’s National Night Out last week was a Night to Remember for students returning to school with free food, drinks, blue cotton candy and a wide range of activities.

SWAT Team, Fire Department Smoke House demonstrations, Secret Service representatives, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife representatives with safe boating information. . . and more.

More than 800 City of Newport coloring books/crayons were distributed to attendees. More than 45 bikes were given away thanks to the generosity of donors.

Newport Public Works worked from sunrise to sunset and during the torrential rain downpour to keep the Target parking lot safe and usable.

Zach Newman of Reser Bicycle Outfitters and Bronze Medal BMX winner at the World X Games for providing Ramp-Up stunts. Ray Bricking and the staff at Sports Clips for provided free haircuts to over 200 students. Ethos Labs’ employees donated 130+ backpacks stuffed with an assortment of requested school supplies.

Live music was provided by 4th & York Band from Gratis, Ohio and Saving Escape Band.

Other businesses who provided support were Target, Kroger’s, Dean Foods, Art’s Rental, Home City Ice, D&M Pro Audio, and Maxwell Jumps.
