Obituary For Christine McNeill

Christine McNeill, 82, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Born on March 2, 1943, in McCreary County, KY, Christine was the beloved daughter of the late Ned and Mattie Perry Stephens. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee at Hopple Plastics, where she spent over 30 years before retiring.

Christine had a deep love for her family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed sewing, working word search puzzles, and cooking her signature southern dishes — especially her famous pork chops, fried potatoes, and cornbread. She also had a well-known sweet tooth and never turned down cheesecake, honey buns, or any kind of pastry.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Barry McNeill; her son, Larry Braden; her sisters, Dorothy Angel and Betty Aleshire; and her brothers, Maynard, Dillard, and Kurt Stephens, and Gilbert Perry.

Christine leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her children: Lisa (Bill) Morey, Melinda (Steve) Crisp, and Mike (Ann) Braden; nine grandchildren: Logan Crisp, Cameron and Matthew Morey, Mattie (Ethan) Spegal, Brooke (Dylan) Scholl, Dakoda, Alanah, Michael, and Tisha Braden; and seven great-grandchildren: Jayce, Jaxon, Marley, Taylor, Xavier, Payton, and Waylon.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with burial in Independence Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 South Loop Rd, Edgewood, KY 41017.

Christine will be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering devotion to her family, She will be deeply missed.
