Obituary For Zanda Loal Owens

Zanda Owens, 92, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, with family and many loving caretakers by her side.

She was married for 69 years to the love of her life, James Owens, who preceded her in death. Zanda was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Owens; daughter, Anita Tichenor; grandson, Andrew Tichenor; granddaughter, Amy Owens; and her siblings, Lorraine Campbell, Malvin Ridener, Jean Hemphill, Sandra Patterson, and Velois Ridener.

She is survived by her daughter, Dale Due (Tom); sister, Gilda Lucas; daughter-in-law, Georgianna Owens; and son-in-law, Steve Tichenor. She was a devoted grandmother to John Owens (Jera), Jim Owens (Abby), Stephanie Hall (David), Sarah Rainer (Art), and Kerri Krish (Evan). She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

Zanda had a deep love for gospel music and spent her life sharing it with others. For many years, she and James visited nursing homes on Sunday mornings, where they sang and prayed with residents. Even after James’s passing, Zanda continued to bring comfort and joy through song, lifting voices and spirits at Dominion Senior Living, where she resided for the past six years.

Her long life was filled with love, family, faith, and music. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, Kentucky, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon.

Special thanks to her Dominion Senior Living family. The entire staff loved and cared for Zanda, and her family is forever grateful for their kindness and devotion.

Sympathy may be expressed by a memorial contribution to, The Salvation Army 1806 Scott St. Covington, KY 41014.
