Staff Report

The Bourbon Bus of Compromise is all dressed up and ready for its debut — and a rendezvous with fate in Washington, D.C. On Monday, it will carry the Bourbon Barrel of Compromise for the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship from Lexington to D.C.’s historic Intercontinental Willard Hotel.

There it will be met by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell where organizers hope it will be eventually used for a much-touted ‘Bourbon Summit’ between McConnell and President Barack Obama. Thus, triggering a new spirit of compromise between Congress and the President.

The project is driven by Lexington’s Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship, the Kentucky Society of Washington, and the Kentucky Distillers’ Association.
