The annual volunteer Reforest Northern Kentucky event will take place March 28 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Rotary Grove in Covington’s Devou Park.

Reforest Northern Kentucky is organized by the Northern Kentucky Urban and Community Forestry Council to restore native Kentucky woodlands. The reforestation project is responsible for planting thousands of tree seedlings on previously mowed properties in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. Reforest NKy is an opportunity for public education and awareness about the importance of trees in our region.

Over the last eight years, more than 30 acres of previously mowed land have been planted with native woodland trees and nearly 2,000 volunteers have participated in this event.

Event supporters include Toyota, Devou Park Advisory Council, Federal Supply, O’Brien & Gere, Busken Bakery, Rudler, Arborday Foundation, WNKU, City of Covington, NKU Center for Environmental Restoration, NKU Center for Environmental Education, Kenton County Parks and Recreation, and Boone County Arboretum.
