In Boone, Kenton and other counties in Kentucky fiscal courts are primed to pass laws intended to break unions – that’s the purpose, plain and simple. The movement is called Right to Work. I challenge any and all. Show the text of any law or legislation in any jurisdiction that denies workers the right to work. Where or when is someone denied the right to work? Even more clear — if the legislation is intended to bust unions then correctly call it, “the right to bust unions.”
Right to Work is proven to be no more than Right to Work for Less. The movement touts itself as attracting jobs and improving the conditions of labor in those states where it’s passed. I challenge any and all. Show any examples of where Right to Work has improved anything, from more jobs to higher pay to better benefits. Anything.
It’s the “who” behind the movement that is an indictment of Right to Work. if it were the workers, reluctant or angry members of the union raising the issue, that would be one thing — but it’s not. It’s the corporations, the special interests. those seeking an advantage over labor.
This is not a freedom movement, it’s a freedumb movement. It’s union busting couched as something it’s not – worker’s rights. Right to Work is the same sort of Newspeak garbage Orwell warned of with “war is peace,” “up is down.” Right to Work is part and parcel of the right’s agenda to win a race to the bottom for this nation.
