As many as 350 of the region’s best and brightest high school students will be honored for their accomplishments in Northern Kentucky University’s 2014-15 School-Based Scholars program on Wednesday, April 15, at 11 a.m., in NKU’s Greaves Concert Hall.
The hour-long ceremony will recognize the achievements of the School-Based Scholars participants and will feature remarks by NKU President Geoffrey Mearns. Following the ceremony, students will be able to attend a Major Fair that showcases the wide variety of NKU academic programs and a series of poster presentations by NKU students. Students will also have the opportunity to tour NKU’s campus.
The School-Based Scholars program allows eligible high school students to take NKU college classes before graduating from high school. Students may take up to eight classes at their respective high schools, the NKU Grant County Center, and the Highland Heights campus at reduced tuition rates.
School-Based Scholars must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and at least a 20 on their ACT in order to be admitted into the program. To be eligible to continue in the program, students must achieve a grade of C or higher in each School-Based Scholars course.
