After two successful Impact Covington Day initiatives in October and December, COV200 is excited to announce it will host its third Impact Covington Day in partnership with Keep Covington Beautiful, the Center for Great Neighborhoods, and the City of Covington. The community groups will join forces for the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 25.
Each year the Great American Cleanup attracts nearly 1,000 volunteers working at more than 25 project sites. In honor of Covington’s bicentennial year, COV200 wants to make sure this year’s cleanup creates more excitement, attracts more volunteers, and has the biggest impact yet. During COV200’s first two Impact Covington Days, more than 600 volunteers donated more than 2,500 hours to the community.
Volunteers are needed from all areas of Covington for the Great American Cleanup. Individuals can sign up to be assigned to a site, and school, business, and community groups are asked to lead a site in their neighborhood. Supplies will be provided to each site and each volunteer will receive a giveaway at the after party.
Youth participants will also receive a special bicentennial Great American Cleanup shirt. In honor of Covington’s 200th birthday, the most-improved site will receive a $200 gift. Those interested in joining in the day can register to volunteer here.
The Great American Cleanup will run from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., with an after party in Goebel Park that includes food, music, and a surprise. At the party, the Westside Action Coalition will host a seed and plant featuring all organic, Covington-grown flower and vegetable plants and seeds, and local organizations dedicated to a cleaner, greener Covington will have booths to discuss their efforts in Covington.
