Phillips entered High Kingdom, the horse on whom she won a Team Silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games and also at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. Phillips won Individual Gold and Team Silver medals at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, and she was a member of the Gold Medal-winning British Event Team at the 2007 European Championship in Pratoni, Italy. She also won the 2005 European Championship title after clinching Individual and Team Gold medals on home soil at Blenheim.

Phillips joins four other British riders who will be vying for the top prize money and Rolex watch, including last year’s winner William Fox-Pitt, who has won the event three times.

The Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of only six Four Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the western hemisphere. It features some of the world’s best horses and riders vying for their share of $300,000 in prize money – with $100,000 going to the winner – as well as a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, which is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four Star Events in succession. The Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge will be featured again this year, awarding $20,000 in prize money to the winning nation with the fewest penalties after adding together the final scores of the three highest-placed individuals from that nation.
