In addition, ADP associates are contributing new mittens, gloves and scarves to go with these new scarves.

Scarf It Up provides handmade scarves to inner city youth, homeless, the elderly and others in need. It is a 100 percent volunteer organization that began in 2003 and dispersed 500 handmade scarves. In 2014, Scarf it Up distributed over 11,000 scarves, along with hats and gloves, to agencies who serve the poor and needy in Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati area.

“Our organization is so grateful to the associates of ADP for their time and energy in assisting with the donation of much needed scarves,” stated Executive Director, Tammy Simpson. “The spirit of cooperation they bring to help others is remarkable.”

Scarf It Up For Those In Need started with six women making 500 scarves and delivering them to three agencies. In 2008 Scarf It Up saw an increase in the number of people in need and wanted to provide hats and gloves to go with the handmade scarves. To meet this increasing need more funds needed to be raised. So in January 2009 Scarf It Up became a program of Shoulder To Shoulder Inc., providing non-profit status. Shoulder To Shoulder is a 501-c-3 corporation organized to relieve poverty.

In 2013 Scarf It Up gathered 10,676 handmade scarves and raised enough funds to purchase hats and a pair of gloves to go with each one and distributed them to 67 agencies that serve the poor and needy in Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Pendleton, Butler and St. Vincent De Paul and Free Store Food Bank coat drives. It takes thousands of volunteers to make the amount of scarves needed each year. We depend on a variety of groups and individuals to make them such as Girl Scouts, Church Groups, Banks, Employee Community Service Hours, Cub Scouts and many many more.

The program runs from September to February. Scarf It Up volunteers also speak to organizations year round about the need in the area and instructional classes
are taught by Scarf It Up volunteers monthly at the Kenton County Library, Erlanger and Durr Branches on how to make scarves.

Scarves are gathered from collection barrels and taken to storage space where Scarf It Up volunteers sort and deliver during December, January and February.
