When Jeff Trame became head coach of the Scott baseball team in 2012, the Eagles had never won a 10th Region championship trophy in that sport. Now they have two of them.

Scott defeated Harrison County, 3-1, in the 10th Region final on Friday to take the title for the second consecutive year. The Eagles (21-11) advance to the state tournament and play Knott County Central (27-8) in a first-round game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
Scott junior Zach Mann was the winning pitcher in the regional final. He also knocked in his team’s first run with a double in the third inning.
Mann is one of seven first-year starters for Scott. The Eagles got off to a 9-8 start this season with their new lineup, but they’ve won 12 of their last 15 games since then. One of their last three losses was to the Harrison County team that they beat in the regional final.
