Kentucky’s Republican gubernatorial primary remains up in the air this morning as Louisville businessman Matt Bevin holds an 83-vote lead over Agriculture Commissioner James Comer.
Out of 214,187 votes counted, 70,479 (32.91 percent) were cast for Bevin and 70,396 (32.87 percent) for Comer, according to preliminary results from the Secretary of State’s office. Hal Heiner received 57,948 (27.05 percent and Will T. Scott 15,364 (7.17 percent).

The slim margin prompted Comer to call for a recanvass, or review of the vote totals.
Things were dramatically different on the Democratic side. Attorney General Jack Conway, with 140,627 votes (78.78 percent), overwhelmingly defeated Geoffrey Young, who tallied 37,887 votes (21.22 percent).
