The first of nine ribbon-cutting ceremonies for special features of the new Smale Riverfront Park on the Cincinnati riverfront will take place tomorrow (Saturday, May 9).
Ample seating areas will enable parents to comfortably supervise their children as they play within the various spaces. Water misters have also been installed to keep kids cool on hot days. The playground affords river views as it takes advantage of the scenic and varied setting.
The play experience will also include a nearby water source, low grass mounds for play and nature discovery, canopy tree plantings, and groupings of boulders for climbing and play.
Participants in the ribbon cutting event will include members of the Heekin Family; Kay Geiger, Regional President of PNC Bank; representatives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley; City Manager Harry Black, Otto M. Budig, Jr., President of the Cincinnati Board of Park Commissioners; and Mr. Carden.
