Former Northern Kentucky University baseball standout Jordan Procyshen was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star team, representing his Greenville Drive for the Southern Division.
Greenville is a farm club of the Boston Red Sox.

Procyshen, who played in every game for NKU during the 2014 season, was voted the Southern Division’s starting catcher, boasting a .281 average with six doubles and one home run, and he has driven in 21 runs and scored 16 times over 39 appearances for the Drive. He has successfully stolen three bases in five attempts, and he holds a .363 on-base percentage and a .345 slugging percentage this season.
The Okotoks, Alberta, native made an impact in his one and only season with the Norse after transferring from Northeastern Junior College in 2014. He led the team in home runs with 10, setting a new NCAA Division I benchmark for NKU.
His 10 homers also finished tied for second in the Atlantic Sun Conference and would have landed in the top 50 nationally if NKU was able to be included in the national statistics.
Procyshen, who was selected by the Red Sox in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft one year ago, finished the 2014 season with a .276 batting average, and he collected 11 doubles and one triple. Procyshen batted in 33 runs to rank second on the team and scored 29 times for NKU.
He became the 11th draft selection for the Norse under head coach Todd Asalon’s leadership and the first since NKU began the NCAA Division I transition. Prior to Procyshen, the last NKU player to be drafted by a major league team was left-handed pitcher Dave Middendorf, who was selected in the 22nd round by the Kansas City Royals in 2011.
Procyshen also became just the second field player to be drafted during Asalon’s tenure, following outfielder Jake Shaffer. Shaffer was chosen by the Seattle Mariners in the 15th round after his junior year in 2005.
Cole Bauml was picked by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round of the 2015 draft earlier this week.
