Scott Schultz from the Independence Police Department and Sean Barth from Independence Professional Firefighters Local 3945 made the decision for the fundraiser to benefit the Kim family.

“This is a great way for two agencies from across the river to show support for our brother,” Barth said. “You have the blue line and the red line teaming up to support Officer Kim’s family.”

The Independence Fire and Police Departments will be conducting the 50/50 split the pot as well to support the family of Officer Kim. One hundred percent of the 50/50 split the pot that night will benefit his family. Pregame the police and fire will compete in an on-field charity softball game beginning at 5:05 p.m., before the Freedom take on the Washington Wild Things at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

Twenty percent of all online ticket sales when fans enter the promo code “first” will go to Officer Kim’s family.

Companies can help raise money as well by being a sponsor. Call Aaron Morse at 859-594-4487 Ext. 20 for more details.
