Salyers Group President Guy van Rooyen addresses the Covington Business Council monthly luncheon June 18 to provide the latest update on the construction of Hotel Covington, the city’s planned boutique hotel at the Coppin Building downtown.

First Financial Bank serves as sponsor for the luncheon.

The $21.5 million initiative, viewed as a center piece of redevelopment along the Central Business District’s main corridor, would create 150 full-time permanent jobs and 115 temporary construction jobs.

Hotel Covington will appeal to business and leisure travelers accustomed to upscale hotels in primary markets seeking an authentic and locally influenced experience.

Van Rooyen’s comments take place as part of the program from noon to 1 p.m. at the Madison Event Center, 700 Madison Avenue, next door to the proposed luxury accommodation center.
