Thomas More College will present artwork by local landscape artist Tom Bluemlein at its Eva G. Farris Art Gallery from June 29 through July 17.
The exhibit opens with a reception on Friday, June 19 from 4-7pm.
Bluemlein finds inspiration for his landscape, waterscape, and still life oil paintings virtually everywhere he travels, throughout the United States and France.
Yet most of his paintings are created close to home, whether in the Smoky Mountain region of Eastern Tennessee, the Kentucky countryside or the beautiful Ohio Valley woodlands.
Nature in all its forms is tirelessly fascinating to the artist, clouds and fog with a strong focused light being of particular interest.
However, no matter what the subject of his paintings may be, water usually plays a prominent role, holding a great deal of significance for Bluemlein and perhaps suggesting an energy flow. Created with an ethereal touch, Bluemlein’s impressionist paintings take the viewer far beyond the subject matter, to a calm place where memories and moods are recalled and revisited.
