Fans can win chance to compete against Canseco in Home Run Derby at Freedom game on Aug. 5


The Florence Freedom will welcome former MLB slugger Jose Canseco to UC Health Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 5 for a home run derby presented by Save Discount Drugs. The home run derby will take place on the field between games of the Aug. 5 doubleheader.

Fans can tryout to compete in the derby at UC Health Stadium on Monday, July 27 at 4 p.m. Click here to sign up.

In order to tryout, fans also must purchase a reserved seat ticket to the game or the VIP Meet ‘n’ Greet package in advance. A ticket to the game plus a spot in the tryout is $20.

A tryout package includes:

· Reserved ticket to the August 5 Jose Canseco game.
· Five swings in the July 27 tryout, to qualify for round 2 of the tryout, contestants must hit a home run during one of the swings.

Fans should come already warmed up to the tryout. Round 2 will consist of five swings with the person hitting the most home runs hit winning the Home Run Derby slot. Tiebreakers after round 2 will consist of five swing rounds until the tie is broken. One slot is up for grabs in the event against Jose Canseco.

From 6-7p.m. on Aug. 5, Canseco will personally meet with a select group of fans who purchase a VIP Meet ‘n Greet package.

The VIP Meet ‘n Greet package is $60 and includes:

· Reserved ticket to the game.
· Autographed copy of Jose’s book “Vindicated.”
· Personalized autograph on one Freedom item.
· Photo with Jose.

Fans have the option of purchasing both a VIP Meet ‘n Greet package and a spot in the tryout for a total of $70.
