Kidney disease affects one in three Kentuckians. It is a disease that with early detection and intervention can be slowed and in some cases even stopped. It is a disease that can sometimes be avoided all together through healthier lifestyles.

This year, the Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky will host its first annual Walk with Sidney on Saturday morning, Aug. 1, on the track of Boone County High School in Florence. The approximately 2K family fun walk will be outside in the fresh air with sponsors around the track, who will be able to provide free information and ways that you can support the programs and services that KHAKY provides across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Walkers will be led by KHAKY’s life-sized mascot, Sidney the Kidney, around the track at the football field. There will be free health screenings following the walk and drawings for door prizes.

You can register online here. When you register, a donation of 20 dollars will also get you a t-shirt on the day of the walk. Walkers who donate or collect a minimum of $20 will receive an official walk t-shirt and a door prize ticket. Recognition will be given to the individual and the team that raises the most money.

All money raised stays in Kentucky to support the programs and services of the Kidney Health Alliance.

If you have any questions about the walk or would like to sponsor the walk, visit the website, or see the KHAKY’s website here.
