“We hope that no one misses this opportunity to see this replica of our most popular and moving national memorial,” Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Heather French Henry said. “Our thanks to Mayor (Jim) Gray and to the city of Lexington for their help in bringing the Wall to Lexington.”

The replica is about 300 feet long. As with the Washington memorial, it displays the names of veterans who died during the war. Those who want to make a pencil rubbing of the name of a loved one can do so on the traveling wall.

“There are many people who can’t go to Washington to see the memorial,” Gray said. “This gives people who have never seen the memorial and our entire community an opportunity to pay our respects and say thank you. It’s an opportunity to teach our children about the sacrifices that have been made for them and for our country.”
