The Village Players of Ft. Thomas celebrate its 50th year of bringing live theater to Northern Kentucky. An updated logo has been unveiled to commemorate this accomplishment.
The 2015-2016 season will feature four plays starting in September and ending in April. The admission fee is $17. To purchase tickets, call the ticket phone line at (859) 392-0500.
The season opens with Wait Until Dark on Sept. 18-20 and 24-26. The play was written by Frederick Knott, directed by Patrick Downey and stage managed by Rachael Hawkins. The intriguing plot involves a sinister con man and two ex-convicts; a mysterious doll that contains several grams of heroin; numerous murders; and a blind woman with a keen sense of survival. The cast includes Dan Maloney, Nathan Henegar, Eric Day, Heather Abbott, Eric Thomas, Erin Klocke, Steve Myers and Brandon McCauley.
The second play of the season, My Friend the Fox, written by William Glennon and directed by Rex Sholar, will begin its run on Nov. 13-15 and 20-22. The plot involves a character named Fox, who is a clever, sly and likeable fellow. The cunning Fox befriends a simple woodsman named Justi. The plot thickens after Fox convinces the king that Justi is a wealthy suitor, looking to marry a princess. Audition dates are on Aug. 16-17.

Dearly Departed will debut in 2016, on Feb. 12-14 and 18-20. The play was written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones and directed by Nathan Henegar. The plot centers around the Turpin family’s efforts to pull themselves together for their father’s funeral. As the Turpin children prepare for their father’s funeral, they endure a myriad of personal challenges of their own. The setting takes place in the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt. Audition dates are on July 26 at 1 p.m. and July 27 at 7 p.m. Those auditioning will be required to deliver cold readings from the script.
The final presentation of the season, Girls of the Garden Club, will run from April 22-24 and 28-30. The play was written by John Patrick and directed by Amy Hamilton. The plot involves main character, Rhoda Greenleaf, who has a passion for gardening and dreams of becoming president of the local Garden Club. Rhoda enlists the help of her Garden Club friends and hatches a plan to overthrow the long-time president, but encounters obstacles along the way. Audition dates are on Jan. 24-26.
