All you have to do to help strike out hunger is toss a rubber chicken? Yep.

And you could be part of a World Record? Cool.

AND you would be doing it with Florence Freedom baseball players, Gateway Grizzlies players and Cincinnati Bengals football player Vincent Rey? Sign you up, you say? Great.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, Master Provisions, partnering with Chick-fil-A and other organizations, will attempt to create a Guinness Book of World Records record for the number of people simultaneously tossing a rubber chicken.

It will take place at the Florence Freedom and UC Health Stadium.

The goal is to gather 1500 people (including Florence Freedom and Gateway Grizzlies players) and set the record for most people to participate in a rubber chicken toss at the same time.

“The current Guinness record for this activity is 999 people and was set in Canada,” said Roger Babik, Master Provisions president. “I know Northern Kentucky can top that.”

In doing so, the organizations also want to raise support and awareness about hunger in Northern Kentucky.

Tickets can be purchased online at the Freedom’s online store at www.florencefreedom.com. Each $20 ticket includes admission to the game, participation in the rubber chicken toss, a special commemorative chicken keychain, a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich and the opportunity to win other great prizes at the ball game.

Fans can play family-friendly games, all with a chicken theme, on the concourse as part of the evening. Participants will also be able to join the Freedom’s Diamond Hunt after the game, as well as a post-game concert by Doghouse.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Master Provisions food program, which makes fresh foods available to over 150 non-profit organizations in the Tri-State who feed the hungry.

“Setting a world record at our stadium is going to be a lot of fun for our fans,” Freedom General Manager Josh Anderson said. “But I’m also looking forward to the symbolism of those rubber chickens on the field, representing of a lot of food being made available to feed those in need in our community.”

The first 1500 ticket purchasers will be able to participate in the rubber chicken toss. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. so that all participants can be on the field when the simultaneous chicken toss occurs at 5:15 p.m. Florence Freedom season ticket holders can also register to be part of the world record attempt for $12.

You will pick up your game ticket(s) and package at registration.

If you are interested in coming to the game with participants in the Toss vs Hunger, but are unable to participate yourself in the toss, additional tickets are available for $10 each with proceeds benefiting Master Provisions.
