Behringer-Crawford Museum seeks NKy Korean War vets, their families to share stories for 2016 exhibit

Wedged between World War II and the Vietnam War, the Korean War has often been dubbed the “Forgotten War” because it received relatively little attention over the years and is barely mentioned in many history texts.

Yet, more than 60 years later, veterans of the Korean War, their loved ones and many in their communities haven’t forgotten the bloody conflict that lasted three years (1950-1953), took 35,000 American lives and ended without clear resolution.

In recognition of the Northern Kentuckians who served during this conflict, Behringer-Crawford Museum is seeking veterans and others to share their personal stories in a new exhibit that will run from June 4 to Aug. 28, 2016 and will feature recorded interviews, diaries, photographs, media reports, letters, uniforms and other artifacts to document the roles that Northern Kentuckians played and the impact they had on the Korean War.

In preparation for this 2016 exhibit, BCM is seeking interviews and stories with veterans, family and friends of veterans and others. If you are interested in signing up for an interview or would like to know more about the exhibit, please contact BCM Curator Tiffany Hoppenjans at 859-491-4003 or by email at thoppenjans@bcmuseum.org.
Interviews will be scheduled through December with primary consideration for those scheduled by October 1, 2015.
