The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) finalized passenger, cargo and parking numbers for the month of July and experienced record, All-Star numbers across the board. During the month of July, total enplaned passengers increased 10.5%. The local origin and destination traffic increased by a record 24.2%. Parking transactions increased by 19.8%.
“July was a banner month for CVG. We were fortunate to have two great events in the region during July — the MLB All Star Game and the NASCAR event at the Kentucky Speedway,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “We also have airline partners that were offering terrific summer deals.”
Because of increased service options, fares continue to drop at CVG. The DOT recently reported that fares from CVG fares decreased by 8% between 1Q 2014 and 1Q2015.
Cargo operations continue to grow at CVG, increasing 13.1% in July. CVG’s cargo traffic has grown consistently every month in the past 5 years. In 10 of the past 12 months, cargo experienced double digit growth. DHL recently announced a $108 million expansion project which will lead to 200 additional jobs and space to park an additional 16 aircraft.
