More than 200 Fidelity Investments® volunteers will participate in Holmes Middle School’s School Transformation Day on Friday and Saturday, an annual event that takes place alongside students and teachers making renovations to the school, inside and out.
This School Transformation Day marks the sixth year of collaboration between Fidelity and Holmes Middle School and exemplifies Fidelity’s focus on supporting the communities in which employees work and live. The transformations are meant to bring renewed energy and enthusiasm to the school community and help students achieve academic goals.
School Transformation Day projects were determined through a brainstorming with Holmes Middle School administration. “The goal is to continue to improve our brand of being a place of learning and being professional, and making this place even more welcoming,” said Holmes Middle School Principal Sean Bohannon. “We want to continue to develop the physical environment so that people are just totally comfortable here.”
This year, volunteers will:
Create dual language visuals throughout the school for both English and Spanish-speaking students
Refresh the current Functional Mental Disability classroom for differently abled students
Construct a second Functional Mental Disability classroom
Create a classroom for the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) afterschool program
Create a STEM-themed mural
Enhance the space and landscaping surrounding the amphitheater, which was constructed by Fidelity team members during a School Transformation Day event several years ago
Transformation events are part of Fidelity’s national partnership with HandsOn Network, an enterprise of Points of Light – the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, to help revitalize the learning environments and support the educational needs of schools across the United States.

This School Transformation Day event in Covington represents one of 14 Fidelity-led events taking place across the country through October. The program supports the company’s goal to ensure students in Fidelity communities receive a quality, foundational education delivered in an environment that helps them thrive. From June through October, more than 2,800 Fidelity employees will volunteer at School Transformation Day events in all of Fidelity’s regional locations and company headquarters.
