Florence American Legion Riders will mount up for annual Teddy Bear Ride to benefit kids at St. E’s

The American Legion Riders will hold their sixth annual Teddy Bear Ride Satruday from noon to 2 p.m. to benefit children who visit the St. Elizabeth Florence Emergency Department.

The ride starts at the American Leagion Post 4 at 8385 U.S. Highway 42 in FLorence and continues to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

Participating riders are encourage to donate a teddy bear.

Event organizers say the Post has already exceeded its goal, collecting more than 3000 teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

But kickstands will be up at noon — including those on approximately 150 Harley Davidsons — and arrival at the hospital is expected around 1:45.

Children are welcome and will receive a special gift from the riders.

Ride director is Rob Rahschulte who said the ride started six years ago to “help put a smile on a child’s face when experiencing a visit of the hospital or emergency room.”
