A playoff race, big promotions and Pete Rose greet the Florence Freedom when they return home on Wednesday for the final nine home games of the regular season at UC Health Stadium.
The Freedom return fresh off a 5-1 road trip to take on the Rockford Aviators for three starting on Wednesday. The Freedom sit at 41-43, just three games back of the Aviators for the final Frontier League wild card berth.
On Friday, the Frontier Greys will be in town for three, followed by a three-game series against the Windy City ThunderBolts beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Here’s a closer look at special activities planned in conjunction with the games:
Wednesday, Aug. 26 (doubleheader) at 5:35 p.m.
STRIKING OUT CANCER NIGHT: On Wednesday, the Freedom team and organization will honor and support those that have battled cancer with Striking Out Cancer Night presented by Thorntons. The team will wear specialty pink ‘HOPE’ jerseys as they honor the lost, and support and encourage those that have survived and are battling cancer.
FREE TICKETS: Thanks to more than 20 community sponsors, tickets for cancer survivors and their families can be claimed at no cost for this event. CANCER SURVIVOR CALL DOWN: Since this is a doubleheader (two 7 inning games), the Freedom will conduct the annual ‘Cancer Survivor Call Down’ between games. During this time, cancer survivors and fighters will be welcomed down to the field and line the first and third base paths. This emotional moment includes multiple standing ovations, many hugs and tears, and proud fist pumps.

FRIGHT NIGHT: The Dent Schoolhouse invades the ballpark for Fright Night on this Nash FM 94.1 Thirsty Thursday presented by Kerry Hyundai. The night will include $1 beer and ice cream sandwiches, and UC Health Stadium will be dressed up for frights as only The Dent Schoolhouse can.
ZOMBIE WALK: Fans should come dressed as zombies and arrive when the gates open at 5:35pm if they’d like to participate in the on-field Zombie walk around the warning track. Zombie walk begins at 6:05pm.
ZOMBIE PAINTING STATION: Join world renowned body make-up artist Aryn Fox in a Zombie painting station. Come in human, leave a zombie.
Friday, Aug. 28 at 7:05 p.m.
PRINCESS NIGHT: The final princess night will again feature over a dozen of your favorite princess characters on the concourse available for pictures and autographs. The first 1,000 kids will receive a Freedom princess poster courtesy of Magic Nutrition.
FIREWORKS: Elite Pyrotechnics lights up the sky post-game on this Fireworks Friday presented by Arlinghaus Heating and Air Conditioning. The final fireworks show of the year will be set to a princess theme and will blow you away!
Saturday, Aug. 29 @ 6:05 p.m.
FITNESS NIGHT: The Freedom welcome Crunch Fitness and their Zumba crew to the ballpark on Saturday for Fitness Night. Join Crunch Fitness post-game on the field for a Zumba session with Rhonda Lang.
CONCERT POST-GAME: Also post-game; enjoy a concert from Boo Radley as it is part of the 92.5 The Fox Rockin’ Saturday presented by Kerry Toyota. Kids are welcome to play kickball on the field post-game.

BARK IN THE PARK II: The second and last Bark in the Park, presented by Oakbrook Veterinary Clinic, happens this Sunday. Bring your dogs to the ballpark and have them compete in contests such as the dog races, doggie dress up and top trick contest. Fans that bring their four legged friends will also enjoy $1 hot dogs (must bring a dog to qualify). Plenty of doggie watering stations will be provided for our friends.
KIDS RUN THE BASES & AUTOGRAPH SESSION: This Sunday, kids will get to run the bases post-game and enjoy an entire team autograph session, presented by Jack Lillie Insurance.

NKY HATES HEROIN: NKY Hates Heroin, Transitions and the Florence Freedom have teamed up to celebrate recovery and create awareness of the heroin epidemic hitting our area with NKY Hates Heroin Night, presented by Steve Cain’s All Vacuum Center. The Freedom will wear specialty jerseys with the sales benefiting NKY Hates Heroin and Transitions.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY CALL DOWN: During the 7th inning stretch, the Freedom will stop the game and welcome to the field all those in recovery from Heroin and those that have lost a family member/loved one from heroin for a moment of silence and encouragement as we let those in recovery know we stand behind them and are encouraging them.
MEMORIAL WALL: Lining the 3rd base concourse will be a memorial wall for fans to write on and remember family members and friends that were impacted by heroin.

EDUCATION DAY: The gates open early and the game starts at 11:05am as the Freedom celebrate Education Day, presented by Owen Electric. Numerous schools will be on hand for a day of learning and baseball as core curriculum will be mixed into the day’s game.

THE ROAST OF PETE ROSE: Fans will get to enjoy a night with the Hit King as he is roasted on the field pre-game, presented by Jack Lillie Insurance. The Roast begins at 5:20pm. Rose will then coach the Freedom and be on the concourse later in the game for autographs. For more information, click here.
TP THE BALLPARK: That’s a wrap (on the 2015 regular season), have a roll. The Freedom send out the 2015 regular season by letting the fans TP the ballpark as Stigler Supply will hand out 2000 rolls of TP in the 7th inning.
