The Cincinnati Reds held the first ever Northern Kentucky Night, presented by St. Elizabeth Healthcare, at Great American Ball Park on Saturday for the Reds’ 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The evening had a Northern Kentucky flare from the beginning of the pregame when Bill Scheyer, president of Skyward, was recognized for leading a collaborative effort to make health and wellness a top priority for Northern Kentucky. That was followed by Garren Colvin, CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, throwing out a ceremonial first pitch to Trey Grayson, president of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. St. Elizabeth is the largest employer in Northern Kentucky.

In addition to health and wellness and Northern Kentucky Chamber booths set up in the Fan Zone:

· Dennis Hurm of Withamsville, (formerly of Florence) was honored as a hometown hero for his military service (U.S. Army), along with more than 100 other veterans who are St. Elizabeth Healthcare associates who attended the game

· Members of Thomas More College women’s basketball team, the 2015 Division III champions, were honored

As an added bonus, University of Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari was on hand and also threw out a ceremonial first pitch. It was also Devin Mesoraco bobblehead night; 42,284 attended the game.
