If you have a sick computer or you’re considering a career in information technology, and you don’t mind a free meal, be sure to stop by for Grilling with Geeks at the American National University Florence Campus (www.an.edu, 859-525-6510), located just off Mall Road at 8095 Connector Drive, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
During the event, students and faculty from the ANU information technology programs will hold a free computer clinic, offer tours of the IT lab, and serve up fresh grilled hamburgers and hot dogs to everyone who stops by.
Clinic services will include troubleshooting and repairing system errors such as viruses and spyware, problems with operating system performance, and hardware issues.
Students will also be available to evaluate and consult on PC upgrades and install application and operating system software. Be sure to bring all electrical adaptors and necessary software with you to the event.
American National University offers a number of programs in information technology, including a new associate’s degree in network support. ANU is a designated Microsoft IT Academy and programs at ANU prepare students to sit for the certifications that they need to succeed in the field, such as the Comp TIA A+ certification and the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification.
