Lightning and rain showers swept through the area on Friday night and forced 10 high school football games involving Northern Kentucky teams to be postponed until Saturday. The new starting times are listed below. Four local teams did play away games against downstate opponents on Friday. Here’s a look at those games.
BEECHWOOD 48, SOMERSET 14

The Beechwood Tigers dictated the game from start to finish with a strong rushing attack led by senior Ethan Stringer, who finished with 257 yards on 28 carries and scored four of his team’s seven touchdowns.
The Tigers jumped out to a 19-0 lead early in the second quarter with Stringer getting the first two TDs and they extended it to 26-7 by halftime. In the second half, Stringer rushed into the end zone two more times and the Tigers ended up with 675 total yards off offense in the game.
Somerset senior quarterback Castle Hatcher threw a TD pass and scored one himself. But another one of his passes was picked off by Beechwood sophomore defensive back Jake Moore, who returned it 22 yards for the game’s final touchdown.

SCOTT COUNTY 54, HIGHLANDS 28
Scott County took a 33-0 lead in the first quarter and Highlands wasn’t able to overcome the deficit. The loss dropped the Bluebirds’ record to 1-2, the team’s worst start since 2002.
Scott County tacked on one more touchdown in the second quarter to take a 40-0 halftime lead. Highlands did manage to put up a fight in the second half, which was played entirely on a running clock. The Bluebirds put up two scores in each of the final two quarters, including an 81-yard touchdown run by senior running back Nick Kendall, who also scored in the fourth quarter.
Highlands’ starting quarterback Austin Hergott sat out the game due to an injury. His replacement, junior Brady Gosney, scored the game’s final touchdown and completed two two-point conversion passes.

BRYAN STATION 36, COOPER 0
After putting up big offensive numbers in the first two games of the season, the Cooper Jaguars managed just 105 yards of total offense against Bryan Station.
Cooper’s offensive attack was stifled as senior running back Torey Cordell-Armstrong managed only 28 yards on 13 carries. Senior quarterback Nathan Brown completed 3 of 6 passes for 53 yards and rushed for 25 yards on five carries. Wide receiver Dante Hendrix had just two receptions for 48 yards.
Bryan Station senior quarterback Andre Davis completed 11 of 20 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 119 yards on 15 carries.

PARIS 28, LUDLOW 0
The Ludlow offense that scored 54 points in its first two games couldn’t reach the end zone against Paris and the Panthers were shut out for the first time since the 2013 season.
Paris has now won the last five games between the two Class A teams, including victories in the first round of the 2013 and 2014 Class A playoffs that ended Ludlow’s season
