Gateway Community and Technical College will offer two Welding Introduction Courses, Introduction to 1G STIC and Introduction to 1G MIG, at the college’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the Boone Campus in Florence.
“We are offering these courses to maintenance workers, mechanics, farmers or anyone that has an interest in welding,” said Carissa Schutzman, Gateway dean of Workforce Solutions. “In just eight hours, participants will learn basic safety, machine setup, how to strike an arc and stringer beads.”
The Introduction to 1G STIC course well be held Saturday, Sept. 26 and the Introduction to 1G MIG course will be held Saturday, Oct. 3. Both courses will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
The cost of each course is $200 per person. Participants are responsible for their personal protective equipment, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses and any other required equipment.
Deadline to register for Introduction to 1G STIC is Sept. 23. The deadline to register for Introduction to 1G MIG is Sept. 30.
