Across Kentucky, more people will have access to AT&T* high-speed Internet as the enhanced 4G LTE network has been enhanced at more than 200 locations in the Commonwealth.
AT&T added more capacity to the latest generation of wireless technology in both urban and rural communities. Residents and business customers should notice improvements in speed and reliability when using their mobile devices.
This is part of the company’s ongoing investment in high-speed Internet in Kentucky, AT&T announced in a news release.
“As more and more consumers use smartphones and wireless services and as businesses increasingly rely on wireless connectivity to monitor productivity and to provide greater growth, expanded accessibility to wireless high-speed Internet is essential,” said Governor Steve Beshear. “I have supported, and will continue to support, public policy that encourages investment in innovative, modern technologies that Kentuckians want and need to prosper.”
“This is exciting news,” said Senator Paul Hornback. “Not only do customers benefit from this kind of investment, but businesses and communities become more attractive when they can tout robust high-speed Internet connectivity through 4G LTE connections.”
“Seeing my dad sit at the kitchen table while using his tablet to participate in a livestock auction in Montana, it’s clear that wireless connections to high-speed Internet – like the ones we get through 4G LTE – are important to Kentuckians no matter their background or age bracket,” said Rep. Rick Rand.
“This type enhancement will help to drive further investment and productivity in our local economies,” said Hal B. Goode, President of the Kentucky Association for Economic Development. “Enhancements like this are why our organization advocates for public policy that encourages communications providers to invest more in the wired and wireless broadband technologies that consumers across Kentucky demand, and we are thankful for the support of Gov. Beshear and an overwhelming, bi-partisan majority of House and Senate members.”
“With the increased interest in connected cars, connected homes and the Internet of Things, we know that the growing consumer demand for high-speed Internet accessibility through our wired and wireless networks is only going to continue to increase,” said Hood Harris, president of AT&T Kentucky. “To continue to meet those demands, we are making robust investments in our advanced fiber-based networks in Kentucky to help more residents take full advantage of the latest services and tools that are available.”
AT&T says its 4G LTE provides:
· Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G***. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before.
· Reliability. AT&T has the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network.
· Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets.
· Faster response time. LTE technology offers faster connections than other wireless technologies. It’s quicker to open a webpage or download a file. It also improves services like mobile gaming, 2-way video calling and telemedicine.
· More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource. LTE uses spectrum more efficiently than other technologies to deliver a better network experience.
