Diabetes educators from the Northern Kentucky Diabetes Coalition will be participating in supermarket tours to provide real-time nutrition information to those with or at risk for diabetes. The tours are scheduled for:
· Cold Spring: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Meijer located at 5400 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky.
· Florence: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, at the Meijer located at 4990 Houston Road, Florence, Ky.
Participants should meet in the café area near the produce department.
Participants will get helpful tips for healthy shopping, learn to read labels and learn how carbohydrate counting can be incorporated into grocery shopping. Plus, all participants will receive a reusable shopping bag with information about diabetes.
Tours will be led by a Certified Diabetes Educator and/or a Registered Dietitian. Registration is required to guarantee a space. Please email NKYDiabetesCoalition@gmail.com or call Joan Geohegan at 859.363.2115 to register, and include which tour you’d like to attend.
