Sedmak joins Northern Kentucky Chamber as vice president of public affairs and communications


The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has hired Scott Sedmak as its vice president of public affairs and communications.

Sedmak, who will take over the position on October 30, will come to the Chamber from Axcess Financial where he was corporate communications manager for the last four years.

“Scott is a smart communicator who has a unique balance of both private sector and public policy experience,” said Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce President Trey Grayson. “He is well-regarded in Frankfort and within Northern Kentucky. Scott will bring a lot to the Chamber with his ability to bridge the gap between the business community and policymakers.”

At Axcess, Sedmak managed strategic communication and community outreach for the company’s affiliated brands, operations which extend into 29 states and involve more than 2,000 employees. In that role, he also managed the company’s charitable relationships and worked with chambers of commerce across the country on policy issues.

Before joining Axcess, Sedmak worked as a communications director and senior policy analyst for Senate Majority Leadership in the Kentucky General Assembly for seven years. In that role, he worked on public policy issues including: economic development, public infrastructure, health & welfare, natural resources, veterans’ affairs, occupational licensing, and Northern Kentucky capital projects among other areas.

“The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is a respected institution in our community, one of the few that represents our entire region across all city and county lines,” said Sedmak. “I’m excited to serve my hometown in a way that allows me to use all my skills in order to better Northern Kentucky’s economy, community, and everyday quality of life.”

Sedmak has also worked as a consultant for Cincinnati City Council on the city’s Law & Public Safety Committee, while also serving as an outreach coordinator to community councils. He has worked as a campaign manager and policy advisor to a number of elected officials and candidates around the region.

As vice president of public affairs and communications, Sedmak will develop and manage public affairs and business advocacy for the Chamber, as well as the organization’s communications and marketing initiatives. He will also work to assist the Chamber’s 1,400-plus members in a variety of areas.

Sedmak earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Journalism (Public Relations Track) from Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. He is active in charitable and civic initiatives in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.

Sedmak and his wife, Rachel, live with their two children in Highland Heights.
