Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff Wednesday, Nov. 11, in honor of a Richmond police officer killed in the line of duty.
Daniel Ellis died Nov. 6, less than two days after being shot while searching an apartment for a robbery suspect.
Ellis, a seven-year veteran of the force, is survived by his wife, Katie, and 4-year-old son, Luke.
Visitation for Officer Ellis will be held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Coliseum, 641 Eastern Bypass in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the coliseum.
Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
