The movement toward urban living in Covington’s downtown core will take a big step closer to reality as renovation starts soon on what is known as the ‘Boone Block.’

The historic project site at 4006-422 Scott Street, near the heart of Covington’s Roebling Point entertainment, residential and business district, is one of Downtown Covington’s landmark structures.

The project is made possible by The Catalytic Fund, in partnership with project investors Forcht Bank, the City of Covington, and developer Orleans Development.

The Boone Block’s redevelopment represents the renaissance that is happening in Northern Kentucky’s urban core, and the movement toward urban living.

“The Boone Block is a pivotal project that will increase residential density in downtown Covington while continuing the development momentum the area is experiencing,” says The Catalytic Fund’s President/CEO Jeanne Schroer. “This will set a high standard of quality for future redevelopment projects in Northern Kentucky.”

The 24,720 square-foot three-story historic building will be converted into nine single-family attached townhomes.

The total project cost is $3,286,490.

The project’s location at the gateway to downtown Covington just blocks from the Ohio River makes it walkable to downtown Cincinnati’s world class arts, sports and recreational attractions. The Boone Block also will create a walkable connection between the Roebling Point and RiverCenter areas, the development of the Gateway Community and Technical College’s Urban Metro Campus and the newly renovated and expanded Kenton County Public Library three blocks south in Covington’s revitalized business district.
