Letter to the Editor: Friends of Our Troops say thanks to Campbell County VFW Auxiliary for Christmas mail

Dear Editor:

As we prepare for the upcoming Christmas mail campaign, Friends of Our Troops would like to extend special thanks to the Campbell County VFW Auxiliary Post 3205 in Alexandria, which participated in the most recent campaign.

Led by Marietta Knuehl, President, the Auxiliary was the number one group in Kentucky as well as the number one VFW Auxiliary nationally. They have been a member of Friends of Our Troops for a number of years. There were participants from Alexandria, Bellevue, California, Cold Spring, and Newport.

Of note, those participating with the Auxiliary included Campbell Ridge Elementary, the number one elementary school nationally, as well as Campbell County Middle School, the leading middle school in Kentucky as well as in the top five in the nation.

Mail is received from all across the nation, mixed thoroughly before being divided into hundreds of packages, both large and small, then sent to military units across the U.S. and around the world.
As the continuation of the Vietnam Mail Call project which was launched in 1965, this mail has been bringing smiles to our men and women in uniform for a half-century.

While it is too late for participation in this year’s campaign, information regarding next year’s campaign will be available after September 1, 2016, by sending your name and mailing address to Friends of Our Troops, P.O. Box 100, New Madrid, MO 63869. The troops will thank you, and so do we.

Keith Boardman, Executive Director
New Madrid, MO
