Lexington attorney Blake Brickman named Bevin’s chief of staff; served same role for Jim Bunning


Lexington attorney Blake Brickman, grandson of a former Democratic governor, Ned Breathitt, and a former aide to Senator Jim Bunning had been named by Governor-Elect Matt Bevin as his chief of staff.

In naming Brickman, Bevin has tapped into extensive experience in politics as well as policy.

He ran Rep. Andy Barr’s successful re-election campaign, was an adviser to Kentucky state Sen. Ralph Alverado, was chief of staff for U.S. Senator Jim Bunning, and a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Amul Thapar in Eastern Kentucky.

Brickman said in the new release, “It is an honor to serve Gov. Bevin and all the people of Kentucky. I look forward to working with others from across the Commonwealth committed to Gov. Bevin’s vision to get our fiscal house in order and create more economic and educational opportunities for all Kentuckians.”

Brickman is an attorney with Dinsmore & Shohl in Lexington. Her earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
