Members of the Kentucky General Assembly will visit Northern Kentucky University on Friday, for a legislative committee meeting to hear the annual State of the Judiciary Address and consider testimony regarding the need for criminal law reform.
The House and Senate Interim Joint Committee on Judiciary will meet at 10 a.m. Friday in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Ballroom. The event is hosted by NKU’s Chase College of Law, and the public is invited to attend.
NKU President Geoffrey S. Mearns, a former federal prosecutor, will provide opening remarks. Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr. will deliver the 2015 State of the Judiciary Address.
Legislators will also hear testimony from attorneys Ernie Lewis and Rebecca DiLoreto from the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers regarding the need for reform from the criminal defense perspective.
The meeting is 10 a.m. to noon in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Ballroom. Parking is available in the Kenton Drive Parking Garage.
