Boone County’s Gary Moore sworn in as president of state judge-executive association


The 2016 officers of the Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association officers were sworn in by State Senator John Schickel at the Quarterly Executive Board meeting at the Berry Hill Mansion in Frankfort last week.

The officers were elected at its General Membership Meeting on November 18 in Lexington and will assume their duties on January 1.

Judge-Executive Gary W. Moore, Boone County, was chosen by his peers to serve as president of the Association.

Judge Moore has served as judge/executive for 17 years.

During his tenure, Boone County has experienced tremendous growth, both in the business sector and in population, and is now the fourth largest county in the Commonwealth. His tenure as judge-executive parallels a distinguished career in the private and public sector.

Judge Moore is chair of NACo’s (National Association of Counties) Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee, Chair of the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation. He has also served as president of NARC (National Association of Regional Councils) and as Chair of the OKI Regional Council of Governments, in addition to lending his talents to numerous civic and community groups.

The officers elected to serve on the Executive Board for the 2016 term are:

President: Gary W. Moore, Boone County
1st Vice President: Kelly Callaham, Martin County
2nd Vice President: Melanie J. Roberts, Bullitt County
3rd Vice President: Alex Barnett, Harrison County
Secretary: Perry A. Newcom, Crittenden County
Treasurer: Harold McKinney, Boyle County
Sergeant–At-Arms: John Phelps, Cumberland County
Past President: John A. Settles, Washington County

The Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association was formed in 1980 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1982. The purpose of the Association is to act as a liaison between county judge/executives and state and federal government entities.
