Veteran rider Rodney Prescott and Dac enjoyed a quiet trip amidst trouble to take the $50,000 Prairie Bayou Stakes by a length Saturday at Turfway Park.
Six Spot was second, 1-1/4 lengths ahead of 9-5 favorite Midnight Cello in third.

Indygo Bo, Rerun, Becknerville and Recount all jammed tight into the first turn, with Becknerville forced to take sharply back. As they sorted themselves out, Recount took over the lead into the backstretch, but he lost that advantage when his saddle slipped forward onto his withers.
Meanwhile, Prescott had Dac comfortably to the outside after breaking from the 10 hole, moved one spot toward the rail with the scratch of One Go All Go.
“It was kind of ugly in the first turn, but we were outside of everything and had a clean trip,” Prescott said. “We got hung just a little wide in the first turn, but I’ll take that with a nice, quiet trip. I was comfortable with where I was and about where I thought I’d be laying.”
The Prairie Bayou is the first stakes win for Dac, a 4-year-old gelding trained by Scott Brumley.
IndyGo Bo clocked the first quarter in :23.93 and then relinquished the lead to Recount, who got the half-mile in :47.30. Dac moved up from ninth to set the six-furlong mark in 1:22.55 and kept his length advantage to the wire, stopping the clock in 1:45.38 for the 1-1/16 mile race over Polytrack.
“I figured there’d be a fairly quick pace,” Prescott said. “I had a little pressure late (from Six Spot to the inside). My horse made the lead easy, right before we turned for home and then he might have been waiting just a little bit, so I kept busy on him and then he dug in when he saw that horse was there.”
Kalamos was fourth, followed by Flashlight, Mister Pollard, Taketothestreets, Forfeit, Indygo Bo, Rerun, Becknerville and Recount. One Go All Go was scratched by his trainer. Crewman failed to draw in.
Off at 13-1, Dac paid $28.80 for the win, $10.80 to place and $5.20 to show.
Dac is owned by Amanda Sarinana and Jose Sarinana and was bred in Kentucky by Wertheimer & Frere. In 13 lifetime starts, all coming this year, he has three wins, two seconds and two thirds for earnings of $106,916.
Dac is a son of Distorted Humor out of the El Gran Senor mare Corrazona.
