Hospice of the Bluegrass honored the Helen Wichmann Memorial Fund at the 29th Annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration, organized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Bluegrass Chapter.

Since 2008, bowlers in Northern Kentucky have united at the Annual Yellin’ Helen Strike Out Cancer Bowl-A-Thon to raise money for Hospice of the Bluegrass and the American Cancer Society.

After losing their mother to ovarian cancer in 2007, Helen Wichmann’s children established the Fund to honor her memory. Their goal was to continue her legacy by raising funds to fight cancer and to support Hospice of the Bluegrass which helped her spend her final days in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

In eight years, the event has raised more than $150,000 for the two charities.
