National Soccer Coaches Association names NKU sophomore Hamblin to All-Great Lakes Region team


Northern Kentucky sophomore forward Macy Hamblin has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes Region second team.

“We congratulate Macy on being our first All-Region honoree at the Division I level. She is a talented, driven, hard working, and unselfish young lady and we continue to be proud of her achievements,” said head coach Bob Sheehan.

Hamblin was named the 2015 Horizon League Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-League selection after leading the League with 21 points.

Her 21 points, which set NKU’s Division I program record, came on six goals and a League-high nine assists.

The sophomore Fairfield, Ohio, native also led the League in shots with 87 after averaging 5.12 per game.

Her offensive production helped the Norse to an 11-5-2 overall record, the best mark in a Division I season for NKU.

Thirty six players were named All-Great Lakes Region as Hamblin is one of just eight sophomores to earn recognition. She and five other Horizon League standouts earned the honor.

In addition to Horizon League postseason recognition and NSCAA honors, Hamblin is also a finalist for the 2015 Soccer News Net College Boot Award which is given to the Division I Player of the Year. Fan voting for the award is open through Dec. 16.
