Star War fans at Newport’s Nexigen buy out theater so employees, students, can see new movie

Nexigen, a Newport technology company, has reserved an entire 300-seat theater at AMC at Newport on the Levee for a Friday night viewing of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Nexigen employees, many of whom are lifelong Star Wars fans, will be dressed as characters from the film.

“We all grew up watching Star Wars movies, reading Star Wars books and when we were kids, playing with Star Wars toys,” said Nexigen co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Jon Salisbury. “So attending the new Star Wars movie is a really big event for us.”

Nexigen also provided free tickets to 26 Newport High School students, 15 tickets to students and faculty from Northern Kentucky University’s Cyber Defense Team, and four tickets to the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

“In addition, all of us at Nexigen feel lucky to live in a community that works so well together and provides so much for its businesses,” Salisbury said. “We are now trying to give a back through this event by inviting students and faculty to the movie.”
