Thomas More soccer stars Felix, Huber, Juniet earn NSCAA All-East Region Scholar recognition


Thomas More College junior midfielder junior midfielder Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) and senior forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) have been named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region Scholars.

In addition, Saints’ senior forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) was named to the All-East Region Scholar men’s team.

Felix was a first team selection to the Scholar All-East Region. She was third on the team in scoring with 13 points on five goals, including one game-winner and three assists. Felix had a .636 shot-on-goal percentage and also helped the Saints defensively hold opponents to four total goals and post 18 shutouts.

Felix maintains a 3.97 grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in cellular and molecular biology.

Huber was named second team Scholar All-East Region. She had a team-high-tying 62 points on a team-best 26 goals and 10 assists. Huber had six game-winning goals and had a .619 shot-on-goal percentage and was two-for-two in penalty kicks.

Huber carries a 3.57 GPA and is majoring in Elementary Education.

Thomas More (19-1-2, 8-0-1 PAC) won its fourth-straight PAC regular season title and fifth-straight PAC Championship Tournament title, while advancing to the Division III Championship’s sectional semifinals for the third-straight year.

Thomas More ended its regular season ranked eighth in the country.

Juniet, a NSCAA First Team Scholar All-East Region selection, was also a First Team selection on the Scholar All-America team.

Juniet, a NSCAA Second Team Division III All-America selection, was also a Second Team All-America selection following the 2013 season. A First Team All-Great Lakes Region pick this season, he was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year on November 16.

He led the PAC in points (55), assists (23) and game-winning scores (6), and was third in total goals scored (16). He led all NCAA Division III counterparts in assists and assists per game (1.15), was second in points per game (2.75) and third in total points.

Juniet maintains a 3.57 grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in accounting.

Thomas More finished the season 16-3-1 (8-0 PAC), won their fifth-straight PAC regular season title and advanced to the Division III Championship for the seventh-straight season. The Saints ended the regular season ranked ninth in the country.

To be named to a Scholar All-America team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all matches and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
