Thomas More College sophomore forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by the PAC office.
Kiernan helped lead the top-ranked Saints to a 2-0 record last week as she averaged a double-double with 21.0 points and 10.5 rebounds while averaging just 20 minutes per game.
She also dished out six assists, blocked five shots and recorded a pair of steals while shooting 76.9 percent (20-of-26) from the floor.
In Thomas More’s 92-69 win at Illinois Wesleyan University on December 30, Kiernan scored 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds in 22 minutes. She finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes during Saturday’s 102-38 win at Thiel College.
In the Thiel win, Thomas More crossed the century mark for the first time and improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the PAC as they extend their winning streak to 43 games.
Kiernan and the Saints return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bethany, West Virginia to play Bethany College at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the PAC Sports Network (www.pacstream.net).
