On Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at approximately 5:20 a.m. a four vehicle, head-on collision on North Bend Road (KY-237) near Wright Boulevard in Hebron, sent four people to area hospitals. The northbound lanes of North Bend Road were closed for nearly four-and-a half hours as a result of the accident.

A 2007 Honda Civic, driven by Danielle Honshell, 22, of Burlington, was traveling South in the northbound lanes when it side-swiped a 2010 Jeep SUV operated by Rukia Ali, 62, of Florence. Ali was transported to an area hospital with complaints of neck/back pain.

A piece of debris from that collision landed in the windshield of a northbound 2012 Honda CR-V operated by Lee Hollon, 75 of Florence, with passenger Nora Hollon, 75 (spouse) who was injured by glass particles and transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

The Civic continued southbound for approximately 150 yards where it collided head-on with a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck, the impact from which sent the Civic off the road into a ditch and the pickup into a 180 degree spin, catching it on fire. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles.

First responding deputies, Rachel Straus and Justin Ryle, were able to extricate the driver from the burning pickup truck. Hebron Fire extricated Honshell.

Both extracted drivers were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Honshell was flown, with life-threatening injuries and the driver of the pickup truck, Michael Puckett, 65 of Union, was transported by ground.

The collision is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit.
