The calendar said there is still plenty of winter left, but the Kenton County Parks and Recreation department is getting ready for spring.
The department will begin accepting reservations for the upcoming season beginning Monday, February 1 at 7:30 a.m. for walk-in guests only.

New for 2016: reservations will be made at the Kenton County Public Works Administration office, located at 420 Independence Station Road in Independence inside Lincoln Ridge Park.
Reservations are for the shelterhouses located within the parks maintained by Kenton County Fiscal Court.
These parks include Lincoln Ridge, Middleton-Mills, Pioneer, and Richardson Road. Effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 5, there will be the option to check availability and make a reservation online here .
Reservations can be made in person any weekday during the regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Reservations are $65 or $80.
Because of their size, location, and amenities, shelterhouse permit fees for Middleton-Mills 2, Pioneer 1, and Lincoln Ridge 3 are each $80. The remaining shelterhouses, which are Lincoln Ridge 1 and 2, Pioneer 2, Middleton-Mills 1, and Richardson Road 1, are each $65 to reserve.
With a $150 non-refundable fee, a shelterhouse for a special event may be reserved up to one year in advance. For more information about each specific shelterhouse, visit the Parks and Recreation department page here .
Shelterhouses can be used for company and family picnics, birthday parties, reunions, wedding receptions, and celebrations of any kind.
For specific shelterhouse current availability, call Kenton County Public Works at (859) 392-1920.
