Senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) recorded her third double-double of the season Saturday to lead the No. 1-ranked Thomas More College women’s basketball team to a 79-52 win over Saint Vincent College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Carey Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
With the win the Saints improve to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in the PAC. The win also improves Thomas More’s PAC winning streak to 83 games as its last loss was a 68-65 loss to Saint Vincent on January 14, 2012 in Latrobe. With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 7-8 overall and 2-6 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent jumped out to an early 12-9 lead when Susie Ellis made a lay-up with 4:13 to play in the first quarter. The Saints answered with a 6-2 run to take a 15-14 lead with 2:26 to play in the opening quarter when Moss made a jumper. The Bearcats closed out the first quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 20-17 lead after one quarter when Katie Ryan made a lay-up.
Thomas More opened the second quarter on a 21-6 run capped by a lay-up by junior forward Kirsten Paul (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) to take a 38-26 lead with 25-seconds to play in the quarter. Saint Vincent’s Lucy Bujdos made a three-pointer with 11-seconds to play in the quarter to cut the Saints’ lead to 38-29 at halftime.
The Saints opened the third quarter on a 19-5 run to extend the lead to 57-34 with 20-seconds to play in the quarter when Moss made a three-pointer. Jasmine Weems made a three-pointer with five-seconds to play in the third quarter to cut the Saints’ lead to 57-37 after three quarters.
Thomas More out-scored Saint Vincent, 22-15 in the fourth quarter to cruise to the 79-52 victory.
Moss completed her double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to go with her game-high seven assists. Joining Moss in double-figure scoring was freshman guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) with 18 points and sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 11 points. Sophomore guard Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in blocks with three.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday when they host Chatham University at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
